Businesses can use the service to set up a private 5G network in their facilities quickly. Such networks enable businesses to accelerate their digital transformation journeys and reap the full benefits of Industry 4.0 technologies.

Using the AWS console, customers are able to specify where they wish to set up a mobile network and the capacity required. AWS will then deliver and maintain the required small cell radio units, servers, 5G core and radio access network (RAN) software, and SIM cards.
David Brown, Vice President of EC2 at AWS, commented:
“Many of our customers want to leverage the power of 5G to establish their own private networks on premises, but they tell us that the current approaches make it time-consuming, difficult, and expensive to set up and deploy private networks.
With AWS Private 5G, we’re extending hybrid infrastructure to customers’ 5G networks to make it simple, quick, and inexpensive to set up a private 5G network.“
Amazon’s solution is self-configuring and anyone wishing to connect to the private network only has to insert one of the supplied SIM cards into their device.
That could sound like a security nightmare but the solution integrates with AWS Identity and Access Management to enable network administrators direct control over what resources which users can access.
AWS Private 5G is entirely scalable so enterprises can start with a small network with a limited number of devices and see how they get on. The pay-as-you-go pricing of the service enables businesses to add as many or as few devices as required.
